A new discovery by a researcher team from Karolinska Institutet, in cooperation with Lund University, may lower or even prevent cardiovascular diseases such as stork.
What doctors refer to as Atherosclerosis “hardening of the arteries” happens when the walls of the blood vessels are thickened and become less elastic. This lead to blood clots and other cardiovascular diseases, it’s not known what exactly cause atherosclerosis, but the immune system plays an important role. They said.
I am sure that you heard about the good and bad cholesterol LDL “low-density lipoprotein”, its one of the factors that leads to the development of heart disease. The finding has now shown that a particular type of naturally occurring antibodies, anti-PC, which are targeted against the lipid portion of the LDL molecule, play an important role in the development of cardiovascular disease.

Cholesterol is a fatty substance found throughout the body. It is vital for the production of sex and stress hormones, and for healthy cell membranes, particularly in the brain. It also makes up bile, which is necessary for the digestion of dietary, fat and helps synthesize vitamin D.
Moreover, people who have low levels of anti-PC are at risk of cardiovascular disease. “Our findings suggest that anti-PC can be used as a complement to the traditional risk factors to improve diagnosis and treatment. In addition we are currently developing anti-PC as a vaccine for atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease,” says Professor Johan Frostegard, who directed the study.
Since the key factor of the disease was identified, scientist will look in the future for a ways or a medication to higher the level of anti-PC in the body; and gives people immunization against cardiovascular disease. Most doctors advice people who were diagnosed with high cholesterol, to follow a certain diet to lower cholesterol. I ran into a very descriptive article of how to lower your cholesterol in 10 ways. Hope it helps.
