5 Reasons Why People May Want Human Cloning

Don’t get me wrong, I am totally against human cloning for several reasons which I will talk about in a later post. But lets digg a little bit deeper and see whether human cloning is a good idea or not.

Cloning is the creation of an organism that is an exact genetic copy of another. This means that every single bit of DNA is the same between the two. Due to ethical concerns, On December 12, 2001 the United Nations General Assembly began elaborating an international convention against the reproductive cloning of human beings. In February 2005 a vaguely worded and non-binding United Nations Declaration on Human Cloning was finally adopted. President Barack Obama says human cloning is “dangerous, profoundly wrong” and has no place in society.

Here are 5 reasons (there are more) why people may want human cloning.

1. Recover someone who was loved:

Imagine this scenario, a father has a 9 year old son who really likes a lot. The son is health, smart, active and lovable. The son dies suddenly from a car accident. The father was asked by the doctors, would you like to clone him? We will give the exact copy of your dead son within 9 months?

If you were the father or mother, what would you say?

No way right? The reason why you said no is because cloning is still no acceptable idea in our society, and I believe in 50-100 years, human cloning will become easy concept to accept.

2. Infertility

Millions of couples around the world suffer from some kind of fertility problem. So, rather than use donated sperm and eggs, why not use a cell of your own to give birth to “yourself”, your own twin? I know this sounds really weird, but wouldn’t be a solution?

3. Eugenics:

“Improving human genetic qualities”, according to eugenics, the future generation will have only, highly intelligent, healthy, and noble characters people. This idea was widely popular in the early decades of the 20th century, it has largely fallen into disrepute after having become associated with Nazi Germany. Eugenics was practiced around the world and was promoted by governments, and influential individuals and institutions. Its advocates regarded it as a social philosophy for the improvement of human hereditary traits through the promotion of higher reproduction of certain people and traits, and the reduction of reproduction of certain people and traits.

4. Megalomania:

How about creating another Einstein? oh wait, why one lets make a bunch. Imagine the world with multiple copies of Sir Isaac Newton, Socrates, and Charles Darwin.

Think about this, the United State banned any human cloning research for a long time now. But what if China for example cloned Thomas Edison. Wouldn’t the United State do the same?

5. Assisting Medicine and Medical research:

Parents can produce a clone of a sick child to provide bone marrow or other lifesaving bodily elements that can be provided with relatively modest risk to the clone. Parents, both of whom have a lethal recessive gene, can produce a child by cloning rather than risk the one-in-four chance that their child will face an early death, and  Many many other examples.

Smart Men Don’t Cheat on Their Partner – Study Finds

Recent studies have shown that men on average have higher intelligence than women by 3–5 IQ points. Why? Well, the mystery is still un-discovered.

A recent study showed that intelligent men don’t cheat. They value the relationship more than men who are less smart,  and they won’t destroy it.

The research led by Dr Satoshi Kanazawa of the London School of Economics and Political Science, and published in the journal Social Psychology.

Dr. Kanazawa said in a press release ” “The theory predicts that more intelligent men are more likely to value sexual exclusivity than less intelligent men,” he explained.

According to the study, the link between fidelity and intelligence does not apply to women because they have always been expected to be faithful to one mate – even in polygamous societies.

The FDA is currently reviewing a new device that tests fertility problems in men. This device, according to scientists, targets couples who are struggling to conceive.

Dr John Herr of the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, who helped developing the test said ” it would suit those couples who have tried to get pregnant for a few months but aren’t ready to seek professional help yet”.

After the test, the device will show whether the man has any fertility problems or not. If yes, then he should consult a medical advice or treatment.
