Oscar, the adopted cat, has very unique ability, he can predict whether a person is near death or not. Oscar is living now at the Steere House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Providence, Rhode Island.
He predicted over 50 deaths in the past few years, by simply staying near the person and never wants to leave. His ability was discovered back in 2007, and staff at the home are now so confident of Oscar’s ability that they alert family members if he shows an interest in a patient.
The nursing home has more than one cat, but Oscar is the only one who really can know if the patient is going die.
In one example according to the house, nurses once placed the cat on the bed of a patient they thought close to death, Oscar “charged out” and went to sit beside someone in another room.
Guess what, the second person died the same night, and the other patient didn’t die.
So, what the medical community has to say about that?
Well, so far there is no solid explanation of Oscar behavior, but what we know is that OscarĀ is able – like dogs, which can reportedly smell cancer – to detect ketones, the distinctly-odored biochemicals given off by dying cells.
I was telling this story to one of my colleagues at work and she said well ” my cat curls up on the bed when I go to sleep! Does that I am going to die? I said ” we will see in few days“.
