Garbage For Gas As Alternative Fuel

Many U.S companies have announced plans to build plants that would take in material like wood chips, garbage or crop waste and turn out motor fuels. With the insane increase of gas prices which reached over 130$ a barrel and gasoline above 4$ a gallon, the waste-to-fuel industry now is working to develop a new system to convert waste into usable energy “fuel”.

Long time ago scientists and researcher knew that they can convert waste to fuel, but what stopped them was cheap gas prices. bioenergy fuel Garbage For Gas As Alternative Fuel

The U.S government has offered grants to get the plants started in an effort to meet a mandated 36 billion gallons of biofuels a year by 2020. Fulcrum BioEnergy announced a plan for building 120$ million plant near Reno, Nev., to make ethanol from garbage. The plants then would use over 90,000 tons of garbage to make 10.5 million gallons of ethanol a year. The project is expected to start in 2010.
