The Eye Of God Watching Us From 700 Light Years Away

This image was taken by a giant telescope on the Chilean mountains, the nickname “The Eye Of God” was given to it by scientist and researchers who were amazed of its elements. If you look closely you would notice that the eye consists of three layers, the first one is the blue pupil, the second is the white ring around the pupil, and the third layer is the pink circle or lid around the white ring.

According to astronomers, the white of the eye and pink lid are created by layers of gas and dust thrown off and illuminated by the star as it comes to the end of its life over the course of thousands of years.

The eye, known as the Helix nebula, lies in the constellation of Aquarius and can be dimly seen in small backyard telescopes by amateur astronomers.

Covering an area of sky around a quarter the size of the full moon, it is so huge that it would take a beam of light two-and-a-half years to cross it. Just to mention that this eye is 700 light years away from the Earth.
