Only 27 seconds into the flight, ATC ALV-1 suborbital rocket carrying tow NASA hypersonic experiments exploded off the coast of Virginia. The rocket was carrying the NASA HyBolt Hypersonic Boundary Layer Transition experiment and the SOAREX sub-orbital re-entry experimental package. A video was released showing the explosion.
